4 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda and Bisoke Hiking Safari is one of the short exciting safaris in Rwanda that takes place over 3 nights and 4 days in the land of a thousand hills. Volcanoes National Park, where this safari takes place, is home to both rare mountain gorillas and volcanoes. 4 days gorilla trekking Rwanda and Bisoke hiking safari will start in Kigali, Rwanda, and go to volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri. There, you will spend an hour with mountain gorillas in their natural habitats and another day hiking Bisoke, one of the 8 volcanoes in the Virunga massif.

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park in Kiningi.

On the first day of your 4 days gorilla trekking Rwanda and Bisoke hiking safari, around 8:00 a.m., you will be picked up from your hotel by a representative of Focus East Africa Tours in Kigali, Rwanda. You will then go on a tour of Kigali, a beautiful city with beautiful people. During the city tour, you will see some memorials to genocide, places of worship, craft shops, and other interesting places that will make the tour memorable. After the city tour, you’ll have lunch in Kigali and then drive to Kiningi. You’ll arrive in Kiningi in the evening and check into your lodge in Volcanoes National Park, eat dinner and overnight stay before going on a gorilla walk the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park.

On day 2 of 4 day gorilla trekking Rwanda and Bisoke hiking safari, you need to get up early for breakfast, put on your best gorilla trekking gear, pack some water and snacks and your lunchbox from the lodge, and then meet your safari driver to go to Kiningi for a pre-gorilla briefing at the park headquarters. As soon as the briefing is over, the local tour guides and armed park guards will lead you into the forest to start looking for habituated endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in Volcanoes national park. When you land on these giant primates, you will spend an hour with them and taking pictures. After that, you will hike back to the park’s offices to meet your driver and be taken back to the lodge. Later in the evening, you can choose to go on a cultural tour to Iby’wacu cultural village to learn about Rwandan culture or you can spend the evening at the park. If you choose a culture tour, make sure you get back to your lodge before dinner.

Day 3: Bisoke Volcano hike in Volcanoes national park.

 On day 3 of your 4 day gorilla trekking Rwanda and Bisoke hiking safari, you’ll have breakfast early, with your packed lunch and enough water, and then be driven back to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting to climb Mount Bisoke, one of the dormant volcanoes in Volcanoes national park. After the briefing, you will start climbing Mount Bisoke with other trekkers and park rangers. It will take you about 4 to 5 hours to reach the top, where there is a crater lake. After you’ve seen Crater Lake and the nearby sights, it will take you about two to three hours to get back to the starting point, where you’ll be picked up and taken to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali for departures.

On the fourth day of your four day Rwanda gorilla trekking and Bisoke hiking safari, you’ll wake up as usual for breakfast. Depending on when your flight is, you can choose to either trek the golden monkeys or go on a half-day hike to Dian Fossey’s grave. After that, you’ll check out of the lodge and be driven straight to Kigali international airport for your flight or be dropped any place of your convenience.
